Taking out cover straight away ensures that should anything unexpected happen that is covered by the insurance policy  you can make a claim . Travel insurance policies vary enormously ALWAYS read the small print

Brexit and how it affects your travel

Passport You will now need at least three months validity left on your passport when travelling to an EU country and probably 6 months for further afield. Be especially careful if you renewed your passport early last time you renewed as this does not include the extra time on your passport between the actual renewal date and the date it was due for renewal. Follow this link, click on the country you are travelling to and then click on Entry Requirements http://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)  which gave free, or reduced rate, healthcare when visiting the EU has been replaced with the UK Global Healthcare Insurance Card (GHIC).

This is free of charge, visit nhs.uk.ghic to obtain yours. You can continue to use your old EHIC until it expires. Neither of these cards covers Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. Do not forget to take out additional travel insurance as these cards do not cover all costs should you become sick or injured when in an EU country.
Remember that the GHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance. It will not cover any private medical healthcare or costs, such being flown back to the UK, or lost or stolen property.

Updates - flight delays

My flight has been delayed. Can I get compensation?

Check the Citizens advice website for detailed information by following this link

Airlines don't have to pay out for delays caused by snow because weather is classified as an "extraordinary circumstance" – though some airlines may issue a refund at their discretion. For those of you flying to India you are almost certainly on a non EU airline so contact them direct to see exactly what you are entitled to.

According to Which magazine you can challenge your airline if you don't agree there were extraordinary circumstances – for example, if you are told you can't fly due to the snow, but other flights are departing. "Airlines may stretch the definition of extraordinary circumstances further than they should."

Which Magazine  states:-

If the delay is not caused by extraordinary circumstances you will be entitled to compensation under EU rules, but only if you are flying with an airline based in the EU or with a non-EU-based airline flying from an EU airport, and only if the delay is for two hours or more. If you are flying somewhere else or with a non-EU-based airline not flying from the EU you'll have to check that carrier's terms and conditions.

If you are delayed for two hours or more you are entitled to: two free phone calls, faxes or e-mails; free food and drinks; and free hotel accommodation if you need to stay overnight.

If your flight arrives at its destination three hours or more late you will receive compensation of between €250 and €600, depending on how far your flight takes you. So you'll get €250 if your three hour-delayed flight travels 1,500km or less (ie, London to Amsterdam), but €600 if your plane is delayed by four hours or more and travels at least 3,500km (ie, London to Sydney).

My flight has been cancelled. Will I get my money back?

If your flight is cancelled you should be offered either a refund or an alternative flight to your original destination.

For compensation you will have to look to the EU rules again, though if the delay is caused by snow – and thus an extraordinary circumstance – you might not get anything. If you are covered by EU regulations you will be entitled to travel assistance (such as help with rebooking for a later date) as well as meals and accommodation etc. Check the official EU website for more on your rights.

What is so different about this blend?

Our teacher training is unique. It has taken us some time as a school to see how unique. Most traditional and even some new school do not allow for a deep acceptance of creative input. We actively encourage our teachers to explore their own creative flair in planning and executing their Sun Power Yoga classes.

It has taken courage and vision to break from some traditional ties and to create a style that respects the ancient philosophy of yoga yet take it into the future and into growth and change. Everything must change, that is the law of the universe and Yoga is no different.

Change does not mean losing anything it just means opening to a different way of seeing things and not being stuck.

Sun Power Yoga has a sound basis and structure. We begin and end in a logical way. We allow lots of creative individual input in the middle area of our class planning. As a school we do not wish to produce an army of look-alikes and sound-alikes. Our school is about inclusion, inclusion from the aspect of personal practice and the needs of both our teachers and our students.

Our classes and teachers are well known for their ability to cater for all abilities and disabilities right there in class, a mix of energy, lives and individual needs. Inclusion Yoga is what we pride ourselves in.

"And as I teach my students I remind them that movement is breath and therefore life and life must change for you to grow." Anne Marie Newland

A few words about Anne - Marie Newland

Anne-Marie’s Individual style of yoga blends three distinct forms and traditions. Originally studying Iyengar Yoga and then qualifying as a Sivananda Teacher, she followed the Guru Disciple Tradition. Most of Anne-Marie’s training has been in India and Canada with Swami Vishnu Devananda and his senior Disciples. She worked with Him at His head quarters in Val Morin Quebec Canada before embarking on her teacher training in South India back in 1984.

She has since travelled to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Europe teaching wherever possible as her Karma Yoga. After returning to the UK she took the path of the ‘House Holder’. This is when you have a family, which you endeavour to raise in the yoga tradition. Four beautiful children later and her yoga had developed into the field of sport, dance and teacher training. Sport is a passion because she has learned to stand on the sidelines shouting for her sons and daughters teams! Falling in love with football has opened her career to working with all types of sports persons and personalities.

As a past professional ballet and jazz dancer her unique blend of yoga has a certain dance-like quality. It was this quality that attracted her to the Astanga Vinyasa style of yoga, its constant flow of movement felt familiar. She went on to study the work of Beryl Bender Birch, Baron Baptiste and Bryan Kest. There was a fresh and contemporary style that Anne-Marie felt was like a breath of something new and a shift into the 21st Century.

It was this new dawn of inspiration that led to Anne-Marie’s Sun Power Series. Based on all the traditional yoga’s she had learned and added to her dance background and new input her own practice on the mat grew into a contemporary graceful yoga we now know as Sun Power Yoga. Her great respect for Swami Sivananda’s spiritual teachings are evident in her use of the breath and mind focus. This style is demanding,” always challenging and never boring” as one critic quoted! Anne-Marie’s classes and workshops have a reputation for being hard work but fun! She demands commitment and sincerity. Her work on “ the breath as the key to yoga” keeps her students always reminded that without the breath there is no yoga only gymnastics.
