If you do not have an annual travel insurance policy you can take out cover just for the dates of your holiday at any point prior to the holiday taking place. The Post Office Travel Insurance includes cover fro Covid.

Taking out cover straight away ensures that should anything unexpected happen that is covered by the insurance policy  you can make a claim . Travel insurance policies vary enormously ALWAYS read the small print

Brexit and how it affects your travel

Passport You will now need at least three months validity left on your passport when travelling to an EU country and probably 6 months for further afield. Be especially careful if you renewed your passport early last time you renewed as this does not include the extra time on your passport between the actual renewal date and the date it was due for renewal. Follow this link, click on the country you are travelling to and then click on Entry Requirements http://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)  which gave free, or reduced rate, healthcare when visiting the EU has been replaced with the UK Global Healthcare Insurance Card (GHIC).

This is free of charge, visit nhs.uk.ghic to obtain yours. You can continue to use your old EHIC until it expires. Neither of these cards covers Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. Do not forget to take out additional travel insurance as these cards do not cover all costs should you become sick or injured when in an EU country.
Remember that the GHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance. It will not cover any private medical healthcare or costs, such being flown back to the UK, or lost or stolen property.

Updates - flight delays

My flight has been delayed. Can I get compensation?

Check the Citizens advice website for detailed information by following this link

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/holiday-cancellations-and-compensation/if-your-flights-delayed-or-cancelled/

Also read the following

Airlines don't have to pay out for delays caused by snow because weather is classified as an "extraordinary circumstance" – though some airlines may issue a refund at their discretion. For those of you flying to India you are almost certainly on a non EU airline so contact them direct to see exactly what you are entitled to.

According to Which magazine you can challenge your airline if you don't agree there were extraordinary circumstances – for example, if you are told you can't fly due to the snow, but other flights are departing. "Airlines may stretch the definition of extraordinary circumstances further than they should."

Which Magazine  states:-

If the delay is not caused by extraordinary circumstances you will be entitled to compensation under EU rules, but only if you are flying with an airline based in the EU or with a non-EU-based airline flying from an EU airport, and only if the delay is for two hours or more. If you are flying somewhere else or with a non-EU-based airline not flying from the EU you'll have to check that carrier's terms and conditions.

If you are delayed for two hours or more you are entitled to: two free phone calls, faxes or e-mails; free food and drinks; and free hotel accommodation if you need to stay overnight.

If your flight arrives at its destination three hours or more late you will receive compensation of between €250 and €600, depending on how far your flight takes you. So you'll get €250 if your three hour-delayed flight travels 1,500km or less (ie, London to Amsterdam), but €600 if your plane is delayed by four hours or more and travels at least 3,500km (ie, London to Sydney).

My flight has been cancelled. Will I get my money back?

If your flight is cancelled you should be offered either a refund or an alternative flight to your original destination.

For compensation you will have to look to the EU rules again, though if the delay is caused by snow – and thus an extraordinary circumstance – you might not get anything. If you are covered by EU regulations you will be entitled to travel assistance (such as help with rebooking for a later date) as well as meals and accommodation etc. Check the official EU website for more on your rights.

    Yoga Teacher Training Diploma London

Want to become a yoga teacher?

Then join the next London yoga teacher training course.

The 16-month Yogacampus Yoga Teacher Training Diploma, now in its 16th year in London, is one of the UK's largest and most successful teacher training courses, known for its non-dogmatic and authentic approach.

The Training

The course was introduced in 2003 and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200-hour teacher training level, allowing graduates the benefit of an internationally recognised accreditation, and with the Independent Yoga Network.

Graduates are also entitled to join the Register of Exercise Professionals, an organisation set up to regulate, help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers.

We know that there are many good yoga teacher training courses. So why train with Yogacampus in London?
•    we have been around since 2003 and have trained over 900 yoga teachers
•    we are the only ‘blended learning’ course to offer you both face-to-face, and online teaching (with access to readings materials, practice quizzes, videos and more long after you graduate)
•    we offer you a range of expert teachers, with eclectic backgrounds, but all with a passion for the yoga tradition
•    we give you an experienced contact teacher to guide you throughout the course
•    we require you to think for yourself and find your unique voice as a teacher!

Perhaps our best testimonial is the fact that many of our graduates have forged very successful yoga teaching careers, including, in some cases, establishing their own yoga centres.

Over the 16 months of the teacher training in London we will help you to deepen your knowledge of the science of yoga – anatomy, physiology, teaching techniques, philosophy – as we teach you how to use your artistic creativity in class planning and sequencing.

Learn to teach asana, pranayama and meditation in your own individual way, from the heart, with awareness, compassion, sensitivity and clarity. By the end of the course you will be able confidently to convey your own experience of yoga’s transforming power to your students with ease and confidence.

Our teachers also sit on the board so you are taught by the creators of the content as well. Ensuring synergy and authenticity.

Liz Lark

Liz has taught since 1995, is a BWY Diploma holder (1994), and is a registered 500-hour Yoga Alliance teacher.

Her teaching and practice is rooted in Astanga Vinyasa (Derek Ireland being her main teacher through the 1990s), however increasingly she is drawing inspiration from the subtle teachings of the Bihar School of Yoga (visualisation, yoga nidra) and other arts to inspire and liberate the spirit.

She specialises in a creative choreographic vinyasa yoga, maintaining safe alignment and adapting postures to individual needs and ability.

She has taught actors Ralph Fiennes and Alan Rickman, and works with musicians the Monteverdi choir, led by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and pianist Ludovico Einaudi. Liz is also the author of seven yoga books and a practice dvd ‘Yogalibre’. (Freestyle yoga)

Sarah Litton

Sarah has been practising yoga for 30 years and teaching for 15 years, and during this time has explored many styles of yoga.

She was a physical education teacher from 1983 to 1997. In 2002 she developed rheumatoid arthritis, and due to the understanding gained in rehabilitating herself, she has focused for the last six years on individual sessions in yoga therapy/remedial yoga, while also in her teaching introducing intelligent alignment in postures to preserve the integrity of the joints and prevent compression.

The breath is in integral part of her sessions, both in understanding the mechanics and in balancing the mind/body relationship.

She has been travelling to India regularly since the late 1970s, and has a particular interest in eastern philosophy, with more recent guidance from Swami Veda Bharati of The Himalayan Institute.

She has a BWY Diploma, and is registered with Yoga Alliance as a 500-hour teacher.

Catriona Brokenshire

Catriona has been practising regularly since 1980 and teaching full time for the last 15 years.

Catriona originally trained with Godfrey Devereux at The Life Centre; she then went on to complete a BWY Diploma course.

Her main practise was initially Astanga Vinyasa and she practised regularly with John Scott for 2 years. In 1996 she met Shandor Remete who became her major influence.

For the past 6 years Catriona’s study with Swami Veda Bharati (disciple of Swami Rama) and Dr Rolf Sovik (spiritual director) of The Himalayan Institute has inspired her to develop a deeper meditation practise. During the past 3 years Catriona has attended Dr Sovik’s advanced trainings.

She is registered 500-hour Yoga Alliance

Registration
